weddings // handmade, no diamonds

Like many other days, I got sucked into Pinterest this morning.  Aside from lusting after Mamie+James dresses, I found myself ogling lots of really lovely engagement rings.

I am REALLY crushing hard on handmade, non-diamond rings lately!  The aesthetic of the made-to-order, a little off-beat, vintage-inspired ring is just so lovely to me.

I rounded up a little collection of my favorite finds so that you can ogle right along with me.  And if you have an hour (or, you know, ten hours) to kill and want to wander through Pinterest, my "wedding rings" board is here.

{ via Alexis Russell Jewelry -- these are actually diamonds, but still non-traditional! }

{ via Garnet Girl Designs again -- my favorite!}

What are your thoughts on non-diamond engagement rings?  Would you go for it, or are you committed to the tradition of diamonds?

  4. those are absolutely gorgeous! love them - i think i would have toyed with the idea - and then stuck with the traditional diamond. I'd love a non diamond ring for my right hand ....but i'm a sucker for tradition. :)

  5. They're all really beautiful. Sometimes I think about having a 2nd ring that I could wear when I'm not comfortable wearing my real ring (aka flea markets and when I'm deal hunting or doing messy activities like a 5K). Any of these would be perfect for that!

  11. I can not stand diamonds, or what they represent, so I wouldn't have one! My husband got me a beautiful smoky quartz engagement ring-- locally mined & beyond beautiful!! I've never had a piece of jewelry I loved so much. Although...that morganite round setting on the lower left is pretty drool worthy!

  13. I just want a ring that is different and unique. These don't speak to me but I am up to the idea of a non-diamond ring. As long as he went through the process of putting thought, heart and soul then I am okay with it. Oh and some money. If he goes without a diamond then I want something that has a little money behind it.

  14. I went the more traditional route, but these are all gorgeous! A number of my friends have engagement nontraditional rings, and they all have a really interesting story behind them.

  15. I love the tear drop shaped one! I actually have a non-diamond ring. I'm not a fan of diamonds. I Like color! Originally my Fiance, who makes wire wrapped jewelry, made my ring. But the stone fell out at City hall and I wasn't able to find it. I was soooo sad. So he bought me a new one after not being able to find a setting that would hold a square stone. I love my ring, I'm just sad that I won't have the original ring he made me anymore.

  16. I like these, especially the round settings! I'd prefer a non diamond engagement ring for sentimental and financial reasons, but my guy insists on buying a diamond. Oh well. I'm hoping to incorporate color with a sapphire wedding band. :)

  18. I have pinned one of these as my engagement ring to be (you know, if I actually find someone to ask me one day, ha!) I've never looked for one (having not needed to) but always thought I never wanted a diamond ring - mainly as I hate having the 'norm' of anything. Never could decide what sort of thing I'd have until I saw these!
